Update to My Bio-energy blog

FYI -

I also just saw a report in Business Week that GE, the largest wind power company, will be dumping many suppliers who are not efficient and cost effective now that the wind power tax benefit will go away. They wrote, ?Vic Abate expects that many makers of gearboxes, towers, and blades for wind turbines will go under next year. He should know: As vice president of General Electric?s (GE) renewable energy business, Abate is the executive who will seal their fates. With a federal tax credit that subsidizes the U.S. wind industry set to expire at the end of 2012, GE is scrutinizing its supply chain?

Have you heard even a peep from our Iowa leaders about what impact that may have on Iowa wind firms and Iowa jobs?

Will Iowa voters support ?small government? politicians (not just Republicans) for state and national office in November? In turn will Republican politicians stay true to their opposition to what they call ?big government? programs and subsidies even when these clearly have helped make Iowa one of the most solvent economically?

Also, did you know that, ?If Congress doesn?t extend the production tax credit, [for wind power] that figure [of unemployed] will hit 37,000 next year?about half the industry?s workforce.? Business Week
