2014 Chevy Silverado: Happy Fourth, Let the Media Blitz Begin

?

Remember Ram Trucks' simple-but-punchy "God Made a Farmer" Super Bowl ads? Prepare for a similarly evocative message from Chevrolet.

?

Today, the bowtie brand announced a massive marketing campaign for their all-new 2014 Silverado that's spearheaded by the "Strong" spot you see above. With a country music tune playing as heartland-friendly images unfurl, the piece plays on familiar, good ol' fashioned values like perserverance and integrity. And while the Silverado claims class-leading towing capacity and fuel economy for a V8, you'd never know it based on the warm, fuzzy TV spot.

?

The Silverado barrage starts, as all media storms do, online (see above), before escalating with the Fourth of July debut of a "Strong" music video for digital download and the spot debuting in the Texas TV market, where Chevy says one in every six pickup trucks in the U.S. is sold. The onslaught continues with nationwide Silverado displays and ride-and-drives, NASCAR promotional arrangements, and appearances at concerts and sporting events, not to mention a branding cooperative with the National Volunteer Fire Council.

?

Our own Ben Stewart appreciated the new Silverado's refinements in his first drive review, though he also wished it came with an 8-speed transmission. Regardless, sometimes it's reassuring to know there's decent truck lurking beneath all that fanfare.
