Samsung Galaxy Folder Android flip phone in the works

When you hear the term ?flip phone? you think cheap old Motorola or Samsung?s with monochrome displays, but apparently Samsung has much bigger plans. Just when we thought crazy designs like the Kyocera Echo were dying off, new reports are surfacing that a Samsung Galaxy Folder Android smartphone is in the works.

Samsung offers a smartphone with just about every screen size under the sun, and now they?re looking to expand into every shape and design too, apparently. According to a new report from the Korean site DDaily, this phone is actually in the works and coming mid August. It will most likely be for their home country and Asian markets, not the US, but we could see something similar eventually if things go well.

The reports state that the Samsung Galaxy Folder won?t be a high end Note-like device, and instead offer mid-range specs for a low price. The screen size isn?t mention either, but it?ll only sport the standard 800 x 480 resolution, so nothing too impressive here. The report goes on to mention a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 4G LTE, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean along with some fancy new apps to work with the flip screen and hardware QWERTY keyboard.

So they?re reviving low resolution displays, QWERTY hardware keyboards, and flip screens. Sounds awful if you ask us. Although surely there?s still a market for people that want an Android smartphone with a dedicated keyboard and something a little more pocketable than a 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II. So we could see this being purchased by a few. Thoughts?
