Veterans Day parade honored heroes

Good morning, Hopkins County. What a great day to be alive and live in the best county in the state. As always, I hope and pray that you and yours have had a great week.

I?m writing this on Monday, the day before Election Day. I don?t care who you voted for, I just hope that you went to the polls and used the freedom that we enjoy.

The Veterans Day parade was a huge success. What a wonderful opportunity to honor our veterans. It was a beautiful day and a great crowd. Thousands came out to support the parade and the veterans. I believe that we host the state?s largest Veterans Day parade. Thanks to everyone who came out.

The next major event at the White Plains Community Center will be a dinner and program. On Nov. 19 at 11:45 a.m., the Earlington American Legion Post Two Auxiliary will host a dual program, which will include a Thanksgiving program by the Rev. Doug Bullock. Turkey and dressing or roast beef, bread and drinks will all be provided. We ask those of you who are coming to please bring a vegetable, salad or dessert. Brother Doug will give the devotional and Lion Lannie Brinkley will do free blood pressure checks. If you have not attended any of these programs and dinners, now is the time.

Please give me a call at 339-7460 or e-mail me at lionnoelhardwick@gmail.com and let me know what you would like to share with your White Plains friends and neighbors. Until next time this is your old buddy Noel E. Hardwick signing off.
